Nancy WymanNewly elected Lieutenant Governor, Nancy Wyman, has had a long and distinguished career in Connecticut Politics. Wyman has resided in Tolland, CT since 1973, where she spent 8 years (1979-1987) serving on the Tolland Board of Education and was Vice-Chairperson for four of those years. In 1987, Wyman left her position on the Board of Education when she was elected the State Representative (1987-1995) from the 53rd District. She was House Chairperson of the Education Committee and Chairperson of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Elementary and Secondary Education.

In 1995, Wyman started her 16 year career as the state Comptroller. Through her position she implemented stricter accounting of state finances and  increased the balance in the Rainy Day Fund. She also oversaw the complete modernization of the computer system that runs the state’s core financial operations. As Comptroller, Wyman's recommendation evolved into the landmark HUSKY health insurance plan that covers more than 300,000 children and their families.

In 2007, Wyman sought private donations to create the Wall of Honor tribute and annual memorial ceremony in the State Capitol to the Connecticut men and women in the U.S Armed Forces who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. She also has been involved for years in events seeking to raise funds for breast cancer research, and as spokeswoman for the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Red Ribbon holiday campaign. She has served as Chairwoman of the American Heart Association’s Greater Hartford Heart Walk, and of the National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut’s annual gala.

Despite being a libertarian conservative, I have been widely supportive of the Malloy administration since he and Lt. Gov. Wyman took office. I am interested to hear her perspective on a host of issues!
