Employer and Job Title: Middlesex Health, Documentation Quality Specialist & Provider Relations
What she does for work: I help providers with their documentation in the EHR, ensuring we capture the entire patient story to drive quality care and improved outcomes. My goal is for physicians to have more time with their patients, serving their unique needs - physical, social, emotional, and spiritual. My volunteer work and colleagues at HYPE have inspired me to enroll in the MBA program at the University of Hartford, with a concentration in Healthcare Management. By furthering my education and continuing to build relationships with key stakeholders, I hope to create value for consumers, providers, payors, and employers alike. Together we can collaborate to create a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem in Connecticut.
What she loves about the Hartford region: Engaging with people in the community and listening to their stories, struggles, and triumphs is rewarding and eye-opening. I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer with LOVE Hartford, KNOX, and Foodshare’s pop-up food distribution at Rentschler field. Having conversations with locals about the obstacles they face - keeping their communities safe, accessing affordable healthcare, decreasing disparities in education, and addressing food insecurity - has helped me learn what I can do to make an impact. I now understand the importance of public/private partnerships in a City such as Hartford to enhance its vibrant culture, retain talent, and serve our neighbors in the community.
Her hobbies and interests outside of work: As a Certified Personal Trainer, I enjoy kettlebell training and kickboxing. I am also an avid tennis player and recreational swimmer, currently ‘finessing’ both my serve and flip-turn. I support Farmington Parks and Rec and participate in community programs such as golf and volleyball. Jamming out on my guitar and listening to podcasts helps me unwind. After a hard day’s work, you can often find me at a Yard Goats or Wolfpack game. My favorite vacation spot is Westerly, RI and staying at the Pleasant View Inn, where I spend my days paddle boarding and kayaking at the Purple Ape.
What she is currently reading: Reading autobiographies provides me with inspiration, creativity, and insight. I enjoy learning about prominent figures and how they preserved through their personal struggles to keep going on their journey to success. Currently, I am reading Bruce Springsteen’s memoir Born to Run and his emotional, yet funny, childhood anecdotes highlight the importance of hard work and family - how it shapes us, for better or worse. Springsteen was able to channel this negative energy into songwriting and his music continues to be heard by millions, on the very same radios that his family dug out of dumpsters on Randolph Street in Freehold, NJ to make ends meet.
