LaunchHaven Meets DEMO | Launch Your Product on DEMO’s Global Stage (8/16/2012)

Aug 07, 2012

Entrepreneurs, you must connect.  As part of our dedication to building the Northeast entrepreneurial community, we feature events that will help you find the resources and guidance you need to succeed.

If you’ve been to a LaunchHaven event in the last year, you’re familiar with why entrepreneurs attend.  LaunchHaven is designed to bring the community together for pitch practice, pitch feedback, and the opportunity to find connect with collaborators (potential co-founders and team members, for example).  You often walk away with a new outlook on your startup, and a renewed sense of how the community can help you launch your idea.

This month, we’re working with Startup Connecticut to take LaunchHaven to a new level.

If you’re a founder whose Connecticut startup is ready to launch on a global stage, this month’s special edition of LaunchHaven is tailor-made for you. We’ve partnered with Startup America/Startup Connecticut to give one lucky Connecticut entrepreneur the chance to pitch on the main stage at DEMO in the Fall.  If you win in New Haven, and succeed in the later rounds of judging, you’ll launch on the same stage where TiVo, E-Trade, Salesforce and dozens of other successful companies got their start.

The DEMO Contest

The competition is a pitch-presentation contest which will showcase an entrepreneurs’ startup. Our panel of judges will choose a group of startups to give a 6-minute presentation on the evening of the contest, with a slideshow or PowerPoint.  Presentations will take place at this month’s LaunchHaven event (August 16th, starting at 7pm), and the winner will be announced the same evening.  The winner will be entered into a national Startup America competition, and four companies will be selected to present at demo (a prize worth up to $18,000).

To be eligible, you must apply, be a Connecticut startup, and your product must:

  • Solve a commercial problem;
  • Make an impact or change the marketplace into which it is introduced or create a new market;
  • Have a business plan and a management team capable of delivering the product to market; and
  • Make its public debut at the DEMO conference.

Since there are a limited number of spots open for presentations, you’ll need to apply using this form.  Presenters will be notified via email if they are invited to present.  After presenting at LaunchHaven, a panel of StartupCT judges will deliberate and announce the winner.
