Lessons in Leadership

Did you know that HYPE is offering its members free leadership training this year?  It’s not too late to take advantage of this great opportunity!

Since January, HYPE has been offering its members a fantastic opportunity to attend leadership seminars free of charge through a partnership with Leadership Greater HartfordLessons in Leadership is a discussion series for area business, educational and nonprofit leaders interested in improving their leadership understanding and skills. The series is organized around the book "Credibility - How Leaders Gain and Lose It - Why People Demand It" by James M. Kouzes & Barry Z. Posner. 

As a member of the 2013 HYPE leadership team, I jumped at the chance to attend.  During the first session, I quickly realized that I could apply the discussions about credibility to all areas of my professional life, not just my leadership responsibilities.  I am so thrilled that HYPE can offer this opportunity to its members.  Most young professionals do not get access to this type of training so early in their careers.  

Now that we are at the midway point of this series, I checked in with several other HYPE members to learn about their experiences.

There is still time to sign up for one, two or three of the remaining sessions.  Don’t worry if you can only make one, it’s still worth it! Individual sessions are “stand alone” and reading the book is not required (but is recommended).

       * Wednesday, April 24: Discipline 4: Develop Capacity (Chapter 6)
       * Tuesday, May 7 Discipline 5 and 6: Serve a Purpose; Sustain Hope (Chapters 7-8)
