The 2013 HYPE Entrepreneurship awards are right around the corner, and we received more nominations this year than ever before! Finalists have been selected and will be pitching their business to a panel of judges at the April 24 event. Each nominee will have 5 minutes to present, and the winner of each category will walk away with $2,500! The event will run 6-9pm at The Mark Twain House & Museum, and will feature not only the excitement of the competition, but also an excellent networking cocktail reception. The Business Excellence Award is targeted at mature businesses that incorporated before Jan. 1, 2011, and can point to a demonstrated track record, proven products and/or services, and established clientele.

produces jeans, shirts, jackets, belts and bags using primarily denim and leather. They also offer repair services for similar products that they have not made. All of their products are backed by a lifetime repair policy; meaning that they stand behind the products 100% and will continue to do so for the entire life of the garment or product, free of charge. All of their product is handcrafted using traditional methods and antique machinery.
The company's most important accomplishment is to be selling American jeans to stores in Japan and Thailand. Both orders were the largest to date and the satisfaction they have felt in representing Hartford and the true spirit of American craftsmanship that resides in our city is indescribable. They describe it as a true joy to offer real American product to markets that had previously dominated the global industry.
Walking through the factory one can see the fruits of three years of hard work, dedication and mistakes. The product of this toil is a fully functional and streamlined production
flow which is operating under capacity. They have the ability to double output as the company grows into its third year. They are establishing a lasting business relationship with Thailand's largest denim retailer that will result in thousands of pairs sold. During the company's short life, they have established a recognizable and respected brand name and philosophy. They like to use the acronym DENIM around the shop, "Doing Everything Now Is More". Therefore they will never be satisfied with the present and will always strive for greatness.
The company's target customers range from local CT residents looking for high quality clothing made in their own state to global denim aficionados looking for the strongest, most authentic pair of jeans on the market. The target ages range from high school students to retired folks. All people wear jeans.
Having honed their production process, their goal as they look ahead in 2013 is to increase sales to match the growing productivity while expanding into new markets, both domestic and abroad. Basically, these jeans are too good to be contained and they want to see them in every major city in America.
