Now Accepting Nominations for HYPE Chair Elect

Jul 16, 2014

McKinley AlbertMcKinley Albert
2014 HYPE Chair
Director of Development, Hartford’s Camp Courant

It is hard to believe that by the end of the summer, we will be announcing who will take over as HYPE Chair in 2015!  I am beyond excited to see who is going to lead this amazing organization over the course of the next year, but I have to admit, I am also a little sad.  Serving as Chair this year has truly been incredible, and the entire experience has had a profound impact on me both personally and professionally.  Not only have I had the opportunity to work with a phenomenal group of people who care so much about the success of this organization and this region, but this experience has challenged me…it has pushed me…it has made me a better listener (although I am sure my boss may still disagree)… and it has made me a better leader.  Young professionals make up a large chunk of this region, and HYPE gives us a voice an opportunities to learn about issues that matter.  This is a region made up of diverse people with varied concerns, and it is an honor to help provide a forum for young professionals.

As a transplant to this region, I never thought I would grow to love Connecticut, let along call it home.  Now, I cannot imagine living anywhere else.  As HYPE Chair, I have made great professional connections with other young people and had the opportunity to promote the benefits of HYPE to the business community.  I have been able to highlight the amazing mission of Camp Courant, and most importantly, I have met people who will be my friends for life.  THANK YOU!  HYPE for all that you have done for me.  If the next Chair experiences only a sliver of what I did, I can promise him or her it will be well worth it!
