Every September HYPE's Community Involvement Committee
holds a community collection of school supplies for a local Hartford School. On Wednesday, HYPE members and HYPE Cup Teams dropped off much needed supplies such as markers, binders, notebooks, folder, calculators, pencils, and backpacks at our Get HYPEd event at the Polish National Home. We collected over 1,860 items for the students and staff to use during the school year! HYPE staff members dropped off the donations to Hartford Public High School, where they were greeted by students eager to help unload the items.
Within Hartford Public High there are three academies; HPHS Academy of Engineering & Green Technology, HPHS Academy of Nursing and Health Sciences, and HPHS Law & Government Academy. Serving students grades 9 - 12, each academy prepares students for a career in their respective area of focus. Students from each of the three academies, along with each of the Principals, greeted HYPE staff, expressing their gratitude for the donation.
Principal Michael Maziarz of the Academy of Engineering & Green Technology, Principal Melony Brady-Shanley of the Academy of Nursing and Health Sciences, Principal Jose Colon of the Law & Government Academy, students from the school pictured below, HYPE Deputy Director Kim Lundy and HYPE Program Specialist Jackie Valliere, would like to thank everyone who donated! A special shout out to the Community Involvement Committee, led by Melissa Cahill, for making this collection such a success.
