Every September HYPE's Community Involvement Committee holds a community collection of school supplies for a local Hartford School. On Wednesday, HYPE members and HYPE Cup Teams dropped off much needed supplies such as pens, paper, notebooks, folders, calculators, pencils, and backpacks at our Get HYPEd event at CityPlace. We collected over 1,060 items for the students and staff to use during the school year! HYPE staff members dropped off the donations to Bulkeley High School, where they were greeted by students and faculty eager to help unload the items.
The Bulkeley High School community believes that all students can become responsible, independent individuals possessing the academic, social, and civic competencies for the 21st century. Serving students grades 9-12, Bulkeley High School places a high value on academic standards, individualized learning experiences, and specialized programs of study to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Students, along with faculty and Principal Dr. Don Slater, greeted HYPE staff, expressing their appreciation for the donation.
Principal Dr. Don Slater, students from the school pictured below, HYPE Deputy Director Kim Bishop and HYPE Program Specialist Jackie Valliere, would like to thank everyone who donated! A special shout out to the Community Involvement Committee, led by Amanda Trothier, for making this collection a great success!
