Did you know that, at any given moment, there are 150 children in Connecticut waiting for therapeutic foster homes? They go to bed each night wondering if they will ever have a place where they feel like they belong. A home where they feel safe, stable and part of a family. If we all work together, we can find homes for these kids!
Right now, The Village for Families & Children is reaching out to the community for help in spreading the word about the need for foster families. Can you connect us with individuals and groups in your life that are willing to learn more? This could include your neighborhood, book club, church group, parent/teacher organization, professional associations, gym, favorite shops, companies you work with, and your group of friends!
You don't need to ask anyone if they'd be willing to be a foster parent (but if you know someone well and feel comfortable doing so, go ahead!). Here are a few things to ask for:
- Would you be willing to set up a talk at [organization, business, company] about The Village's foster parenting program?
- Could you display a flyer?
- Can you like The Village on social media and share our posts about foster parenting? (@TheVillage_CT)
- Can you refer us to anyone else (individual/group/business) who might be open to learning about foster parenting?
