Join United Way Emerging Leaders Society
(ELS) for volunteer experiences throughout the 2019-2020 school year. Beyond the Bell
is an after-school experience for middle school students participating in programs at one of Hartford’s schools. Volunteers will design and facilitate activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), programming. The goal is to offer fun, educational learning experiences for students participating in the afterschool programs of Hartford’s Community Schools that help further United Way’s education priorities and change our community.
Volunteers do not need any prior STEM experience or knowledge to sign up, just a desire to learn more about the local community while volunteering in a hands on opportunity that makes a meaningful impact. Beyond the Bell is held once a month on Fridays from 4:30-5:45pm at Alfred E. Burr Elementary School (Burr), located at 400 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford. Sessions will take place the following dates:
Friday, December 13th, 2019
Friday, January 10th, 2020
Friday, February 14th, 2020
Friday, March 13th, 2020
April – no event due to Spring Break
Friday, May 8th, 2020
